Do I really need to clean dishes before putting them in the dishwasher?
A.
You have to scrape them, but rinsing dishes under the tap is overkill. While most dishwashers are not designed to dispose of solid food, they do have some sort of macerator (food chopping mechanism) to get rid of stray bits and pieces.
