Car Q&A: Best Time to Buy?

Q.

What's the best time of year to buy a car and get the best deal?

A.

No one can say for sure, but a good option is to buy between August and November. Why? Dealerships get the next year's models starting in September and need to make room on their lots. If possible, hold out as long as possible (well into November), when even deeper discounts might be scored to clear out the current inventory once and for all. And never shop for cars on weekends. There's too much competition from other buyers, so you won't get as much attention. Plus, dealerships will be hungry to make money -- not cut deals -- after a slow week.
