How do you measure a room for wallpaper?
The hard part about this question is that there are many ways to measure; it's not easy and everyone has their own method. You should really rely on the help of an installer. Installers do this for a living and understand all the small details about measuring. Have them measure twice to be sure.
If you insist on doing it yourself, there are some tips. Measure the length of the walls in inches since most wallpaper widths are in inches. If there's a window or small doorway in one of the walls, don’t worry about factoring it in, just measure as if it were a solid wall. If the majority of the wall is a doorway to another room, things get kind of tricky. Usually, this only counts as two rolls, but be sure that the space from floor to ceiling is below 15 feet and that the space on the sides of the doorway is less than the width of the rolls you're using.
Most companies sell their wallpaper in dimensions of 15 feet X 30 inches, so just be sure to measure really carefully here or you'll need to go back for more. If you can get away with two rolls, use one roll for the right side of the doorway, the second roll for the left side of the doorway, and the leftovers to go above it.
