We are getting ready to decorate our nursery and I like the look of wainscoting but we also like the look of cherry nursery furniture. Our problem? All of the trim in our house is white.

When planning a nursery you should also think about what you want the room to look like when she is a little older (we know it’s hard to think beyond the belly). You don’t want another project waiting for you in a few years. Wainscoting is a great way of adding an architectural element and style to any room, for any age group.

You will want to match the wainscoting to your room’s white trim. No matter what color you paint the rooms, your room will have a unified look when it matches (and it ties all the rooms in the house together too). And while cherry furniture can be really pretty, it is a little limiting in style and is most commonly used for dining room tables and hutches. Plus, the contrast with the white trim would be too much. We suggest going with a white or blonde wood, which will also give you more options in cribbing and window treatments.
