How long were you looking?
We were seriously looking for about two months.

How many homes did you visit and look at?
We went to look at six homes and had narrowed it down to two before deciding on the one that we purchased. We primarily chose it because of the cute neighborhood and dead-end street. We can definitely see ourselves raising a family here! The other home was on a main road and really wouldn’t have been what we wanted for the long-term.

What was the hardest part about finding your new home?
The hardest part was learning the art of compromise and what the money we budgeted could really buy. For example, I really wanted a fireplace, big closets, and a large bathroom. While the house that we bought doesn’t have those things, it has so many other redeeming qualities (such as a large deck, a gorgeous kitchen, and expansion potential for the future) that we were able to compromise and learn to love what we have!

What was the best part?
It was SO exciting as newlyweds to search for a place to call our own! At each house we looked at, we imagined how our life would be together for many years to come. For us, it was also the sign that we had "made it" as adults. We have great jobs, we’re married, and now we’re homeowners, ready to dive into our future together!

Was it hard to compromise and find a home you both loved?
It wasn't at all, fortunately. When we found this house, it felt like "home" to both of us! The house is completely our style, and the people that lived there before were impeccably clean, so we didn't have to change or fix anything before we moved in. That was a huge motivating factor for us to purchase the home.

Do you have any advice for Nesties who are still looking for their first home?
Be patient! The market is tough right now, and we really just got lucky with our timing. Our house had only been on the market for two weeks when we purchased it! You’ll know when you’ve found "the one" (just like when you found each other!), so don't settle. This is probably the biggest purchase that you’ve made together, so be sure it's what you want. Also, get a good real estate agent! Ours was indispensable. He really made us look at and think about things that we had not previously considered as first-time homebuyers.

What’s your favorite thing about your new home?
Our favorite thing about the house is its "homey" feeling. It truly makes everyone feel comfortable upon entering because of its traditional/country styling. We also absolutely adore our kitchen that runs the entire width of the house with large windows at either end. We definitely spend the majority of our time there, whether it’s relaxing alone or entertaining guests with all of the great serving items that we received at our wedding!
