How They Met: They both went to Michigan State University and were working part-time at Circuit City during their sophomore year. Kelly had a crush on Miguel and finally confessed after he went on a date with a friend of a friend of hers.
Career: Kelly: marketing communications & public relations for Global Forex Trading, one of the largest currency trading firms in the world; Miguel: social worker/case manager for Ionia County Community Mental Health, a community mental health organization
Fight Most About: Money and household chores
Biggest worry: Kelly’s is health; Miguel’s is student loans/debt.
Interests/ Hobbies: Softball and running
He/She Loves to Cook: Kelly cooks everything; she likes making Italian dishes and trying new recipes. He likes to cook frozen pizza.
Splurge: They don't splurge too much... Miguel will get into a new tech gadget, like his new cell phone. And he likes to eat out a lot. Kelly has a slight shopping addiction, but it's always about searching for the best bargains. And they like to go on trips -- concerts, music festivals, see old friends.
Guilty Pleasures: He’s a big music and sports junkie. She likes to buy clothes, shoes, and purses. They both love concerts -- they went to Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo this summer. The first present she got him right before they started dating was a foam middle finger (like the #1 sports foam fingers) from Ozzfest. That's how they knew it was love!
Favorite Sports Team: Kelly is into college sports, especially the Spartans of MSU! Miguel is a HUGE Cubs fan. He watches all major sports.
Decorating Style: Modern. They accumulate things and make the most of them.
Baby Clock: Two years (after he finishes getting his masters of social work)
Favorite Vacation Spot: Anywhere warm. They went on a Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon and saw Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Marseilles, and Capri. For short vacations, they like to go to Saugatuck (a small artsy beach town 45 minutes away) or Chicago (three hours away).
Spend the Weekends: Going to weddings, going to MSU football games, getting things done around the house, or hanging out with friends
On Weeknights: Run/workout, shower, eat dinner, clean, watch TV, check emails and play on the computer, go to bed. It's very structured, although sometimes they go out to eat. Miguel has class one night a week, and Kelly babysits her 4-year-old nephew once a week.
