Just Moved: Laura & Braden

In Savannah, Texas

Location: Savannah, TX
Setup: 5-bedroom, 4-bath
Style: Plantation
Square Footage: 3,600
Price Paid: $274,000
The Deal: $76 per sq. ft.

How many places did you look at?
Six or so.

How long were you looking?
We looked a few months and then decided to build.

The worst part about house-hunting was...
Trying to find the perfect house inside and out. We would find a house that had an exterior we loved, but then we walked inside just to walk right back out! We also had trouble finding a neighborhood that we could see ourselves raising a family in.

The best part of house-hunting was...
Finally deciding that we would build our first home. This way we could supervise the entire process and work together to make this the home we both would love.

Was it hard to compromise and build a house you both loved?
At times it was hard. We have slightly different tastes in colors. We narrowed the floor plans down to what best fit our needs. In the end we both fell in love with the same one.

What advice do you have for Nesties who are currently house-hunting?
For those choosing to build, keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be stressful. Be prepared for delays because of weather or late shipments of materials. And be flexible with your timetable. Above all else, remember that this is supposed to be a fun time and take lots of pictures from the start.
