Just Moved: Subrina & Ronnie

Find out how these two fond their first home.

Location: DeSoto, Kansas
Setup: 4 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths
Square Footage: 3,600
Price Paid: $318,000

How long were you looking?
Three months.

How many homes did you visit and look at?
About 20 visits plus about 50 others the real estate agent emailed us that we didn't actually go visit.

What was the hardest part about finding your new home?
Finding a place that would allow us to live comfortably with three small dogs. Our new house has a good-sized yard that we fenced, and it already had a big storage building that we dedicated to the dogs so they could have their very own doggy mansion.

What was the best part?
Getting a house that was ours, that we chose together. I (Subrina) already owned a home, but we sold it to buy one that was ours.

Was it hard to compromise and find a home you both loved?
Surprisingly not. I (Subrina) found the house and looked at it with the real estate agent and decided to bring Ronnie to see it. He loved it too. We did the compromising process before we began looking so we could narrow down the choices.

Do you have any advice for Nesties who are still looking for their first home?
Think about the things you loved and hated about the house you grew up in and the houses of your friends. Talk to people about what they love and hate about their current house. Make a list of things you really want and keep it with you when you look. Also, take pictures of the houses you look at so you can go over them later.

What’s your favorite thing about your new home? What's unique about it?
The storage building turned doggy mansion and the finished basement. It has a wet bar and a movie viewing area with a big-screen TV and surround-sound system.
