Buying Q&A: Gas vs. Electric Stove

Q.

The Nest Q&A

If you’re in the market for a new stove, should you go gas or electric?

A.

Pros prefer gas surface burners due to their quick initial heating. The only downside is they waste a lot of heat energy into the air. Electric Halogen elements can heat just as quickly and with less energy loss. But these are only available on a glass range, which can scratch or break and are expensive to replace. It really comes down to personal preference and whether your kitchen is set up for electric (220 volt) or gas (a gas line).
