Follow these steps to pick a mattress pad that’ll extend your mattress' life and leave you wondering how you ever slept without one.
Measure your mattress to figure out what size you need. Here are a few things to consider while shopping.
Fabric Content: Mattress pads with 100-percent cotton covers provide superior comfort and durability over cotton/polyester blends. Many mattress pads are treated with fabric protection that makes them stain- and water-repellant as well as antimicrobial.
Thread count: This represents the number of threads per square inch of fabric. Much like sheets, a higher thread count of a better quality yarn will better fight wear and tear.
Fill: The majority of mattress pads have a polyester fill. Thicker fill provides more cushioning. Down-alternative fills, which are made of super-fine gel fibers, provide extra support and comfort.
