Laundry Q&A: Getting Rid of Lint?

Q.

The Nest Q&A

Whenever I wash my dark clothes, they come out with lint all over them. Is there anything I can do?

A.

You're in luck because this dilemma actually has a really simple solution: Wash and dry your towels, washcloths, and other fleecy fabrics separately. Often, these are the items that leave lint on darker clothes and fabrics. Check your pockets before washing, too, because tissues and napkins left in there will produce a whole lot of lint that can be deposited on your clothes. When you're drying, use fabric softener sheets -- they work wonders at helping to reduce lint. And of course, regular cleaning of your lint trap is not optional. Removing that fuzz will make a world of difference.
