How to Choose a Bathroom Sink

Having trouble outfitting your powder room? Here are a few tips to help you decide whether a vanity or a pedestal sink is right for you.

Ask yourself (and your significant other) some key questions:

Are you clutter bugs? Be honest! If the answer is even a little bit yes, you definitely need a vanity to stash everything in. Otherwise makeup and grooming supplies are destined to tumble off the edge of the sink daily.

Are you neat freaks? Then a pedestal sink is your friend. There’s less area for soap grime to accumulate, so it’s easier to clean. Plus, it forces you to store your personal items elsewhere.

What’s your home’s architectural style? If you’ve got an old-school, antique vibe going on, a pedestal sink will be more historically accurate. A modern, sleek pad? Go with a clean-lined vanity.

Is this your master bathroom? If it is, let’s be real: Where are you going to put all your stuff? For a pedestal to work in your main bathroom, you’ll probably need additional storage. But for a second or guest bathroom, a pedestal could be perfectly adequate.
