Trendy as loft-like spaces may be, they can be a bit overwhelming when it comes time to place furniture. Here are a few expert tips to help you make the most of those wide-open spaces.
- Float furniture, such as a couch, with a console or sofa table behind it in the middle of the room instead of pushing it against a wall.
- Create vertical separation with a pair of table lamps on a console or a large bouquet -- especially one with flowering branches.
- If you want even more separation and privacy -- particularly for a bed area in a studio -- put a tall bookcase in the middle of the room. This works especially well with a backless bookcase, which can be used from both sides.
