I’ll say it right up front: I’ve always found Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle newsletter, GOOP, a bit pretentious. Okay, I’m being kind. It’s really kind of clueless in its pretension at times (and I’m not alone in that opinion).

The other day I spotted this story on Elle Decor about all the things Gwyneth can’t live without in her London townhouse (which is actually two London townhouses combined. I can’t imagine Gwynnie has to live without much).

I admit it’s fascinating to me to know exactly what her favorite accessories, art and furniture are. You know, the actual things that decorate her London townhouse-times-two, since odds are I’ll never get a house tour (especially now).

Among her must-haves: De Gournay hand-painted wallpaper (all posh -- it looks just like you’d expect Gwyneth Paltrow’s wallpaper to look…and dammit, I love it!) ...peonies (those are my favorite flowers too! Grrr…), and YUBZ retro handset (Alert! This is something chic that you can actually afford).

So anyway, I may not have a freestanding Italian bathtub installed in the middle of my bedroom that’s just “perfect for a relaxing wind-down or for bathing the kids” (really?!), but maybe I’m a little intrigued by this Gwyneth Paltrow character. I like knowing that she actually puts thought into making her nest a personal space, instead of just hiring someone to do all the thinking for her. And hey, she’s got good taste.
