How do you stain or paint a concrete floor? We both have horrible allergies and want to avoid carpet in our basement.
A.
First, you have to clean the floor thoroughly—use a mixture of warm water and degreasing cleaner and scrub the concrete with a stiff brush on a pole; rinse it and let it dry. Since it’s a basement, you can apply an exterior porch and floor paint that will bond to the concrete. In a garage, use an epoxy paint, which will hold up to the weight of the car when parked.
