What should I remember when I'm out shopping for wallpaper?
Remember to take your time and do a home-test, because it's easy to get sidetracked when you're in a store and are flipping through hundreds of eye-catching samples. How will those designs really look inside your pad? Will they coordinate or clash with your adjoining rooms and decor? Get as many samples as you can of designs you like and tack them up to the wall at home. Then live with them for at least week and picture that design taking over the wall or room. Which ones are growing on you, and which ones are starting to drive you crazy?
You can also go online to wallpaper manufacturers' websites; many have wallpaper-a-room tools that will give you a big-picture view of how the repeat of the design will look. It's key not to rush this selection process, because once you put wallpaper up, it's a pain to take it down if you decide that those swirls or stripes really aren't for you.
