How to Dredge

Get your food fry-ready with this technique.

Dredging, or battering a piece of food before you fry it, sounds a lot scarier and harder than it is. Here’s how to do it.

1. To dredge something in flour (which will add crunch and texture), place the flour, spices of your choosing, and the item you want to dredge into a Ziploc bag.

2. Shake the bag until the item is entirely coated.

3. Fry away!

Note: While flour is most commonly used for dredging, you can substitute or mix in many other ingredients, like buttermilk, eggs, or even hot sauce.
