Pick All summer long, but best in June.
Buy Be on the lookout for bright, fragrant, full berries without any dull, soft spots or mold (obviously); skip if the flesh near the leaves is white—they’re not ripe yet.
Prep Rinse just before using; then chop off the leaves and remove the core.
Store Fridge: Store them unwashed for a couple of days. Freezer: Prep as normal and halve; freeze in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Once the strawberries are frozen, store in freezer bags for a maximum of six months.
Pair Try strawberries with citrus, mint, rhubarb, champagne, chocolate, cream, vanilla, balsamic vinegar or cucumber.
