Cooking Q&A: Making Fish More Appetizing?

My spouse hates fish. Any way to make it more palatable?

First, find out what your spouse hates about fish because he or she probably doesn’t hate ALL fish. If your spouse doesn’t like oily fish, like salmon, try recipes that call for light white fish, like tilapia or sole. Or, if the dense texture of tuna or swordfish doesn't appeal to your partner, try delicate-fleshed fish, like trout or flounder. Another trick: Prepare the fish in a way that’s familiar. A whole filet of sea bass might not be as appealing as, say, a Lobster Burger, a Tuna Burger, or mahi mahi tacos. Fish Tacos are one of my all-time favorite meals, and it’s a good one for the fish-haters out there because so many other things are going on in the dish besides the fish. Between the salsa, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, and anything else you want to pile into the tortilla, the fish takes a backseat to all those other flavors. You can saute the fish in oil for a light, low-fat version, or you can beer-batter and fry it (clearly something most husbands can get into). Heavily season about a 1/2 cup of flour with salt and pepper, then stir 1 cup of beer into the flour. Coat the fish in the batter. Whip out a pan, add oil (about 1/4 inch from the bottom of the pan), and fry the fish over medium-high heat on both sides.
