Cooking Q&A: Menu Ideas For Sports Fans?

Q.

I'm having about 20 sports fans over for a party and I'm not sure how much food i should make. Do you have any menu ideas for a large crowd?

A.

A great menu would be to have two appetizer options (think: a total of 8-12 pieces per person); a big pot of chili (plan for 2 cups per person); an assortment of dips (1 pint of each dip); 3 bags of chips; and a big salad (try a salad recipe with a kick at TheNest.com/nestmag). Foot-long heros are always good, but we love the idea of having an interactive sandwich bar set up with various meats, cheeses, and toppings for people to create their own heroes. From your deli, get a pound of three types of meat and two types of cheese. Also, get about 20 rolls, a jar of sliced pickles, pepperoncinis, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and an assortment of sauces.
