Is there a proper way to open wine?

A.

Getting it in the glass is all that matters, but here's what the pros say:

1. Cut the foil. There’s usually a notch on the bottle to help you get started, or use a knife or the blade on the corkscrew. Remove it completely.

2. Twist the worm -- it’s the long, curly metal piece with a pointed tip -- into the center of the cork. Keep it straight as you twist, and be careful not to puncture through the cork or break it.

3. Pull out the cork. If you're drinking Two Buck Chuck, pour immediately. If it's decent wine, wait 10 minutes for the wine to oxygenate before serving. And remember, men pour to women first -- always.
