Why am I asked to log in every time I visit The Nest?
If you're being sent back again and again to the log in screen, your browser is probably not set to always accept cookies. To make your visit to The Nest as fast and carefree as possible, your browser preferences must be set to always accept cookies.

The Nest uses cookies to store your member number and the information you've input to the Monthly Budgeter, To-do List, and other tools. If your browser is set to always accept cookies, you never need to log in more than once to The Nest -- and you can update your information and preferences in other tools at any time.

What are cookies?
A cookie is a very small text file placed on your computer by a web server and is essentially your identification card. It contains your member number and cannot execute code
or deliver viruses.

The Nest uses cookies so that once you join the site, you never have to log in again. In addition to your member number, cookies let us store the information you've input to the Monthly Budgeter, To-do List, and other tools. Cookies allow The Nest to be more efficient. Each time you return, we'll show you the information you request.

As a Knot member who has passed your wedding date, you have now graduated to our new website, The Nest -- The Knot's new home for newlyweds. Don't worry -- your membership and personal information, as well as your web page, guest list and wedding registry, are not lost! They still all exist on The Knot, and have been automatically updated on The Nest to become your newlywed web page, address book and wish list, respectively. You can continue to use The Knot and you can update your Nest preferences at any time.


How do I add a link or picture to my signature?

Link:

  • Go to the community page: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/community/default.aspx
  • Under your name, click "Edit My Profile." Scroll down to the Signature field and enter in this code: [a href="*YOUR URL HERE"]YOUR TEXT HERE[/a]
  • Take out the * and input your URL and text

Picture:

  • Upload your picture to a hosting site such as Photobucket.com or Shutterfly.com.
  • Find the direct link to your photo by right-clicking on the picture and finding the URL under properties (it will end in .jpg or another file ending for a picture). If the URL is long, you may need to shorten it using a site like tinyurl.com.
  • Go to the community page: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/community/default.aspx
  • Under your name, click "Edit My Profile." Scroll down to the Signature field and enter in this code:
    [img src*="YOUR URL HERE" width="180px"] Take out the * and then you can modify the size of the picture by adjusting the "180" higher or lower.

You have a very poorly designed login process. I saw a post that I knew I could help with so I tried to reply. It asked me to sign-in, but it also seemed to say I could just sign in with Facebook. I did that, authorized thenest.com, and went back, but this didn't get me in, it just permitted me to merge my "existing" account with my Facebook account. I didn't have an existing account, so I stopped and asked myself if all this was worth it to answer somebody's question. I decided to go ahead. I created a new account -- you say you need my full street address in order to send me things I request? -- and thought I might be done. Okay, so I need to confirm via email, common enough. Except that you don't send it for me, you say -- I have to go to my preferences and click to send myself a confirmation email. I do that and find my way back to the original post I wanted to comment on, hit reply, and am told that I need to wait two days before my first post in case I'm spam. Come on! Even if a spammer had the patience to go through the whole sign-up process, you have plenty of other tools at your disposal to filter spam. In trying to find a place to vent this frustration, there was nothing that said "Contact us" (wise, given how many complaints you are likely to receive with such a user-unfriendly site). I clicked help on a few pages and it said something like, "The layout for this page cannot be found." Finally, I make it here, certainly not the best place, but where else? Oy.

I can post/reply on the knot; however, when I try to post/reply on the nest, it says "your account is pending approval, click on this link to verify your email" so I go into my profile, click on the link to send an email, receive the confirmation email, then click to verify my account. The runtime error you are seeing when you try to update your address book is a problem with the website, not your computer. Unfortunately all we can do is wait for someone to fix it because other than this help blog I can't get an email for anyone who might be able to help with this.

I haven't been able to update my address book in ages. Every time I click on an entry I get this message: Server Error in '/AddressBook' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

I used the knot...5 years ago. From time to time (okay it might have been year) i use the nest for my addresses. Where are they? They are not in the the knot anymore? And i sure as heck cant find them on here. I've used this site to store ALL of my addresses since using the Knot for my wedding invitation list. If they are gone, I will tell anyone who will listen not to use the Knot/Nest. It is simply infuriating that the site encourages you to call them if you can't find what you're looking for (a link that is still on the site "Address Book") yet a number to call is impossible to find. Dear The Nest: For months we have been begging you to fix the problem with our address books. If you are going to offer a service you need to maintain it. Now, not only is the problem not fixed, but it's been made worse because now our address books are gone, or moved. Worst of all, this is our only outlet to contact you for help with problems? Not cool! As with many other users, this was the only place I stored my addresses and without them I am completely lost. Imagine my horror when I went to my address book and found that it is now DELETED without ANY WARNING! There isn't even a working email address or contact page to find out what happened from a Nest staff member. I had addresses of relatives on there that will be difficult if not impossible to replace. Hey Nesties, I scoured The Nest until I found a real live e-mail address, to get to the bottom of the address book issue. I actually got a response with some answers from a very nice person, and I thought I would share with you:

Hello Sarah, I was forwarded the below email and would be glad to assist! The Address Book on The Nest is currently down, I am checking with the IT department to find out if the tool has been completely disabled or if they are just doing updates, once I find out I can email you again directly. In the interim, you can access your guest address by going to your The Knot account, and then to the Guest List Manager: http://planning.theknot.com/wedding-guests/dashboard If you click the title of your Wedding Guest List, on the following screen you will be able to see all the parties and their addresses on this page: http://planning.theknot.com/wedding-guests/1132409/list/addresses If you made any updates on your Nest Address book that are not reflected on your Guest List Manager, please let me know and I can request IT further investigate. If you have any other questions, please let me know and I would be glad to help.

She later wrote back to say that The Nest address book has been permanently disabled, so get on over to The Knot and grab your addresses. I'm moving mine somewhere more secure!

It still has all of my groups that I set up in the dropdown box, but not the actual names or addresses themselves. Haha apparently noone gives a hoot about our opinions since everyone still has the same issues after 2 years. The whole thing of not being able to change a username is silly. I got on the Nest (after being on the Knot) from my phone and must have missed the "username is permanent FOR-EV-ER" notice. Now I'm stuck with my email address for a username. Not cool.

I signed up with the Knot for my wedding. I am married now and I am trying to start my Nest page. Well it keeps telling me I have to log in when I go to my profile. I updated all mu information. When I go to the Knot it has all my stuff and does not ask me to sign in. Now when I go to the Nest I have to sign in and it does not show my Anniversary ticker or my avatar. I see that I would have to except cookies, but if that is so. Why does it not do that when I go to the Knot? Everything is saved and it goes straight to my profile w/o having to sign in. When I am on the Nest I can save avatar, signature, and photos, but it won't show that I saved. AAAGH!!! Help!! Do I need to just delete my Knot and start over in the Nest. The only thing is I don't want to lose everything I already did. H E L P ! ! !

Why does the Nest log and track the deletion of a post? I find that disturbing. You should have the liberty to delete something if you feel it necessary without having to explain and told that it is being tracked.

I am having the same issue. I can post/reply on the knot; however, when I try to post/reply on the nest, it says "your account is pending approval, click on this link to verify your email" so I go into my profile, click on the link to send an email, receive the confirmation email, then click to verify my account. Does anyone know where I can buy this magazine? The site itself doesn't seem to sell issues of the nest,the only stores are the knot and the bump, which only carry back issues of the knot as far as I've seen, and Borders doesn't have it. I kept checking back for the Spring issue again and again,and they never got it in-no grocery store or walmart/target did either. I checked probably 10 different places,in different towns in my area, and found nothing. I searched online. Please, Nest, make it easier to buy this magazine! Put it in your knot store,if necessary! I found the Knot very user friendly but am having real difficulties using the Nest. Every time I click on a choice/page/tool, etc, my log-in is lost and I'm seeing a new profile and avatar. Regardless of how many times I redo my account, I cannot change a profile picture to match my avatar or match my Nest profile...I just get asked to log-in again. It's also not logging that I write posts. I'm not sure if there is something that I am doing wrong or if it's a malfunction with the site. I've tried both of my home computers, so I know it's not a computer issue. I was happy with the Knot but am not loving the Nest yet.
