So you get a gym membership, buy new running shoes, and tell yourself you're going to exercise five days a week. Then the next thing you know, it's Friday and you haven't worked out since Monday. Sound familiar? For some of us, the hardest part about working out isn't breaking a sweat -- it's getting motivated. What do you do to stay on top of your fitness schedule?
My trick is this: I get my workouts done in the morning (on most days) so that dinner plans, extra hours at the office, or a new episode of The Real Housewives
(it's a guilty pleasure, what can I say?) doesn't get in the way. It's not always easy to wake up early, but I've found that if I lay out my workout clothes, shoes, and running watch the night before, it's a lot easier to get up and get going. I swear, it's like my sneakers are looking at me like the Geico dollar bills, telling me to get my butt out of bed. Most days I run outside and then do resistance exercises at home.
