Here's the deal: Mexico is hot. People like to go there in the winter so they can escape the cold and lie on the beach. But in the middle of June and July, it's really hot, and most would-be travelers have some other, closer beach they can lie on. So the resorts in Mexico start offering too-good-to-pass-up deals to make the journey worthwhile for those who can handle the heat. If you guys can, a week at an all-inclusive Mexican resort, plus flights, could cost you less than what you'd pay for a week at a beach resort closer to home that's charging its peak-season (i.e., summer) prices. A great option if you want to avoid the mega-resorts but don't want to pay for everything a la carte: Ceiba del Mar, a boutique resort located on a half mile of private beach in the Riviera Maya, where you can sleep, eat and drink (yes, that includes booze) for $192 per person per night (CeibadelMar.com). Insider tip: Book your trip for early summer or early fall to beat the really intense heat.
