Spending a night or a weekend or even the week with your in-laws doesn’t mean you need to take on their diet. Depending on their eating habits, just to try to stick to your own normal eating habits as much as possible. Eating too much of something yummy feels just as bad as eating too little. You can trust your body’s stopping point if you listen to your stomach.
If you’re feeling stressed about eating and not being in control of your meals, remember that a meal, or even several days outside your comfort zone, doesn’t make or break you. Your body can handle a few days of denser eating -- trust your system to even things out. In other words, if you do fall into their habits, there’s no need to “make up for it” when you get home. The best tactic is simply to maintain your normal meal plan and trust your body.
