Getting Pregnant Q&A: Can You Fly Pregnant?

Q.

I'm five months preggers. Can I fly?

A.

If you're having a healthy pregnancy, absolutely! My husband and I flew to a spa in California while I was pregnant, and I still daydream about that trip. If you're having a normal pregnancy, some ob-gyns like mine say you can travel until you're 32 weeks. Others say that you can travel up to 36 weeks, but after that, you run the risk of going into labor while in the air. Just make sure to get up and walk around during your flight to avoid deep vein thrombosis (DVT), the formation of blood clots. Your risk is higher due to your body's natural tendency to prevent excessive bleeding during childbrith.
