Getting Pregnant Q&A: What Does Charting Mean?

Q.

What does "charting" mean?

A.

Dr.Roman says: Charting refers to checking your basal body temperature (BBT) in the morning during your cycle and following the trend on a graph to better determine when you're ovulating.

For most women, BBT increases slightly (by fractions of a degree) at the time of ovulation through the remainder of the cycle. By consistently charting your BBT and observing the trend over several cycles, you can better predict the time that you'll likely ovulate in future cycles.
