Love Q&A: What's the "last period" question all about?

I don't understand why doctors start counting from your last period to figure out how many weeks pregnant you are. Doesn't ovulation happen after that?

A.

Your doctor can't be sure exactly when you did ovulate, but she can be sure of the date your cycle started, so she counts from that date.
