He Said: My Year in Review

What sucked, what ruled and what I (hopefully) learned.

All in all, 2010 was a really positive year for Holly and I as a team. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you already know that I almost died in 2009, so that kind of puts everything into perspective. Know what I'm sayin’? Besides almost biting the dust after being bitten by a tick, I was uninsured when it happened, so Holly and I were faced with astronomical bills that we thought might drive us to financial ruin. I won't get into all of the details, but we were able to solve our financial issues without declaring bankruptcy, and my health steadily improved. Still, at the beginning of 2010, both Holly and I were emotionally hung over from the experience. Now, looking back, I have to say it's been an amazing year. Our marriage feels more solid than ever before. I think that weathering the things we did showed us that we have a kick-ass partnership and know how to play to each other's strengths, particularly in a crisis. Financially, we are having one of our best years ever, despite the national economic picture, and despite the fact that Holly quit her staff job and went back to freelancing. My top two goals for 2011? First, I'd like to get health insurance (still out of reach for us). Second, I'd like to be able to squeeze in more leisure time (Holly and I tend to skip vacations) even if that means doing 5 percent less on my days off. Alright, your turn.
