In 2008, Shania Twain was heartbroken to discover that her then-husband of 14 years, Robert "Mutt" Lange, had been having an affair with her good friend and house manager/assistant, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. Marie-Anne was also married at the time, to Frédéric Thiébaud. Reportedly, the two couples were close and had often vacationed together. Cut to New Year’s Day 2011, when Twain and Mr. Thiébaud said "I do" on a beach in Puerto Rico in front of 40 of their closest friends and fam.
Kind of charming and amazing, no? It looks like the two were able to lean on each other during the very public breakups of both their marriages, and over time that support and understanding blossomed into romantic love. It's definitely got the makings of a weepy rom-com, don't you think? Okay, maybe more “rom” than “com,” but still -- a very Hollywood ending. I'm happy for Twain. By all accounts she was completely rocked by the abrupt unraveling of her marriage to Lange (who is still together with Marie-Anne bt-dubs). But it seems like the heartbreak has given Twain an entirely new direction: She's slated to host a new reality show called Why Not? on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) that will focus on how people respond to big disappointments.
Will you watch? And what do you think of Shania's bizarre love square?
