| Guys often seek relationship advice from their moms and sisters because, well, we just don't get what you're so upset about sometimes or know how to make it better (and no, you ignoring us or stomping up the stairs doesn't make it any clearer). Running things past a female "guide" gives us clueless guys a glimpse into our wives' brains. So while it might seem intrusive that your husband's spilling the beans about your recent fight to his sister, chances are he's just trying to make things better and/or find out how to not screw up further. It's actually a good sign that he reaches out to her instead of, say, his buddies -- because believe me, they'd be equally clueless or would just convince him that his point of view was the right one. Look at it this way: The fact that your husband's going to someone as close as his sister shows how much he cares. Trust me when I say it'd be way (and I mean waaaay) worse if he just blew you off and didn't care enough to seek advice. | Sorry, ladies, but it'd definitely fair game for him to call his sister and give her (most) of the details about your recent spat. You might not see it this way at first, but the reality is that you should be glad he's getting a woman's perspective on things instead of his male friends'. The last thing you want is for him to be following idiotic advice from his twice-divorced college buddy. Plus, his sister will hopefully be wise enough to direct him to do the right thing -- she might even side with YOU on certain matters and convince him to apologize. Besides, if you tell him he can't talk to his sister about your fights, then it pretty much goes without saying that you can't call up your friends or family members and give them the play-by-play either. Is that how you want it? |
Okay,
now it's your turn. Who do you call after a fight? Does it bother you if your spouse lets his friends or family members in on the details of your relationship? What if he's just seeking advice?
Weigh in!
