The Nest Relationship Olympics: Challenge #6

Work on a home project together.

Working toward a tangible result can be very healthy for your partnership. Think about it: You’re literally functioning as a team. For a bronze, pick something minor inside or outside the house and make a plan to tackle it together in a jiffy. For instance, maybe the windowsills need a new coat of paint or those squeaky hinges need to be replaced. You’ll need one person to scrape old paint and one to apply a new coat; you’ll need one pair of hands to hold the door while the other operates the power screwdriver. Teamwork -- it can be super easy and super rewarding.

For a silver, we challenge you to an all-day project. Yep, we’re talking dismantling the grill and giving it a thorough cleaning together, or getting up on a ladder to clean out your gutters and downspouts. Hey, you can be the one to hold the ladder! Teamwork is teamwork, right>

A weekend challenge is going to earn you a gold. Depending on how handy the two of you are, this can range anywhere from repainting the bedroom to building a trellis for the backyard garden. Things like power-washing the deck, deep-cleaning carpeting, and maintaining the HVAC system are also two-person jobs. Give yourselves a reward after a job well-done – and, of course, collect your gold!

Come back and tell us: What medal did you earn on challenge #6?
