The Nest Q&A

My fiancé and I just bought our first house. Now we're being bombarded with nosy questions—how much it cost, what our interest rate is, and so on. I'm uncomfortable answering. How should I respond?

A.

The best way to eliminate future grilling is to dismiss it nonchalantly. Acknowledging that the question makes you feel uncomfortable simply gives people an invitation to say you're being "uptight" or "secretive." Annoying, but true. Instead, laugh it off with a lighthearted, "Oh, you know that I hate talking about money."
