Here’s the thing: A new study has found that chocolate is actually the healthier choice. A double win for chocolate! Woo hoo! In all seriousness... Researchers at the Hershey Center for Health & Nutrition found that gram per gram, cocoa powder and dark chocolate have more antioxidant capacity and flavanol content than fruit juice, helping to decrease DNA damage and make you healthy. For real.
So chocolate is the new superfruit. But hold on there, don’t think this is an excuse to have a milk shake as your afternoon snack. Instead, satisfy your sweet tooth with the darkest chocolate and cocoa you can find, which is the healthy stuff. If you’re jonesing for some hot cocoa, ditch the overly processed powders and pour hot milk over the heart-healthy stuff, instead.
