New “Recession” Designer Jeans

True, we officially navigated our way out of the recession, but the fashion industry is still a bit lost in the woods. The jean market is the latest bubble to hit its bursting point, and designers across the industry are cutting their prices. After almost a decade of high-end “designer” jean decadence -- with just one pair of the blue stuff costing as much as $600 -- high-end brands are finally offering more budget-friendly options of this classic casual wear. “The key price is under $200 now,” Eric Jennings, men’s fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue, told The New York Times. “The super-expensive stuff is not performing as well.” Prices are still steep, but at least they’re nearing reality.

In addition to the great deals on Diesel, Rock & Republic, and Citizens of Humanity jeans, we've found that other brands have slashed their prices too. Ksubi, the Australian manufacturer of previously $280 hyper-stylized skinny jeans, now offers less expensive options for its stores in the UK and Australia (from $155) and Recession Denim just put out a new line aiming to be fashionable but durable -- for as low as $85.

Daylight Savings Time

Hey, Nesties, let’s talk about what happened last night. No, not what you did for Halloween (but feel free to talk about that in the comments too). I want to talk about my favorite night of the year: Daylight Savings Time. As a self-professed “Awful-Waker-Upper” (I’m talking two different alarm clocks every morning here, folks, and hitting snooze multiple times on both), there is nothing I love more than the annual gift of an extra hour of sleep.

There are, of course, people who choose to take the extra hour and use it wisely -- I’m referring to the thousands of people running the New York City Marathon outside my window right now as I cocoon in my warm bed, or those of you who are making the most of the daylight hours now that the sun will be setting an hour earlier. But as for me, I’ll take that extra hour and run with it, thank you very much. And by “run,” of course, I mean “sleep.”

So who’s with me? Did everyone else spend the extra hour sleeping, or did you...you know, do something productive with your time? Share in the comments!
